Roger Calanni

Roger’s experience and overall understanding of how the complete healthcare system works helps to ensure clients are always ahead of the curve. His unique previous experience before AlignRx as a senior executive at a national PBM as well as a healthcare provider allows Roger to see the complete picture, not just a snap shot of the healthcare industry. That knowledge allows Roger to solve the daily problems that plague TPAs, brokers, employer groups and health plans.

Throughout Roger’s nearly 20 year career in the health care space, he has served on two nationally recognized PBM advisory councils as well as being responsible for numerous undertakings that drove sales, marketing, and operational improvements which resulted in large savings for all involved.

At the PBM Roger was responsible for all new sales strategy for the Midwestern portion of the country including creating and cultivating broker/consultant relationships. This included obtaining RFPs for PBM services, negotiating collaborations to provide cross selling opportunities as well as training broker partners on the ever changing and turbulent PBM world.

While at the health plan, Roger sat on two nationally recognized health plan advisory councils. Roger was directly responsible for the development and strategy for new and existing sales pertaining to the health plans’ self-insured pharmacy block of business. Within that role, Roger cultivated new “carve in” opportunities by leveraging his experience and knowledge of the pharmacy benefit management industry. He also delivered annual reviews to clients to help them identify opportunities to “bend the trend”. Roger was an integral part of a team that turned the pharmacy department into a revenue source by creating a “PBM” within the health plan to create net margins.
